Top 3 finance issues in finance

Iโ€™m Isabelle Berry-Egan, Sales Manager at Kybos, I hear many of the same frustrations come up time and again with finance leaders across a range of organisations. Although every business is different, the underlying challenges are often remarkably similar: too much manual work, limited confidence in reporting, and not enough visibility to make timely, informed decisions. In my video I talk about the top 3 issues I hear from finance leaders.

Number 1: Excel hell

The first is that teams are still spending far too much time working in Excel. What begins as a familiar and flexible way to manage planning can quickly become difficult to control as the organisation grows. Different versions of the same file are shared around the business, formulas are changed unintentionally, and confidence in the numbers starts to slip. When people are spending time checking which version is right rather than using the information to make decisions, finance loses valuable momentum.

Number 2: Lengthy reporting

The second issue is the amount of time it takes to produce reporting. Instead of having real-time insights available when they are needed, teams often have to pull data together manually from multiple sources, check it, rework it and format it before it is ready to share. That can mean reporting takes days rather than hours, creating unnecessary pressure at month-end and making it harder for finance to focus on analysis, interpretation and strategic support.

Number 3: Out-of-date numbers

The third challenge is that by the time a forecast, budget update or board pack is complete, the business has already moved on. Markets change, costs shift, sales performance evolves and new risks or opportunities emerge. If leadership teams are relying on out-of-date numbers, it becomes much harder to respond with confidence or plan proactively. In a fast-moving environment, finance needs timely information, scenario modelling and a unified source of truth to support better decision-making.

If any of this sounds familiar, you are certainly not alone. Many finance leaders are dealing with the same pressures: too much manual effort, limited visibility and reporting processes that struggle to keep pace with the business.
