What is driver-based planning?

Driver-based planning is an approach to financial planning in which the financial model is built around the key operational and commercial drivers that determine financial outcomes — headcount, volume, price, utilisation, conversion rates — rather than being structured as a simple line-by-line prior-year comparison. When a driver changes, the financial impact cascades automatically through the full P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow model.
